How does bankruptcy affect my home? | Patrick McBurney Attorney at Law

How does bankruptcy affect my home?

This is often the most common question I hear asked by prospective debtors, will I be able to keep my house? The answer to that is, usually yes. The important thing is that when you go into bankruptcy, you need to make sure that your house payment is current. As long as you have continued to make your house payment, whether or not you reaffirm the debt or not reaffirm the debt. As long as you continue to make that payment current on a monthly basis, you will be able to keep your house.

If you’re behind on your house payment. We can use Chapter 13 to reorganize your debt and repay the arrearage over time.
